Using hypnosis on ourselves is more powerful than we think. But is it also effective in treating addiction?

On today’s episode, Duane speaks with Dr. David Spiegel, Wilson Professor and Associate Chair of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Stanford University School of Medicine. With 45 years of experience at Stanford, Dr. Spiegel runs the Center on Stress and Health at Stanford and the Center for Integrative Medicine. His renowned work and expertise has helped people obtain better control of their minds and bodies using hypnosis.

Dr. David Spiegel dives deep on the topic of hypnosis: how it works, how suggestibility affects the brain, “top-down processing,” and how our unconscious can help us heal. Dr. Spiegel has used hypnosis with about 7,000 people in his career. He has published thirteen books, 400 scientific journal articles and hundreds of book chapters on hypnosis, psychosocial oncology, stress physiology, trauma, and psychotherapy. So what is hypnosis and how does it help those in recovery? Tune into The Addicted Mind to find out.
